Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, accompanied by Mr. Pasan Kavikeshawa, Second Secretary participated in AHPICON 2026, the 3rd Edition of the Tamil Nadu Chapter of the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI-TN), held on 29 August 2026 at Feathers - A Radha Hotel, Chennai. The Deputy High Commissioner participated as a panelist in the session on "Medical Tourism", addressing the topic "India's Medical Tourism Opportunity: How Tamil Nadu Can Lead." The conference brought together leading hospital promoters, owners, clinicians, healthcare Administrators, policymakers and industry representatives to deliberate on emerging opportunities and challenges in the healthcare sector. During the session, Dr. Geathiswaran highlighted the potential for strengthening India-Sri Lanka cooperation in healthcare and medical tourism, including opportunities for greater collaboration, knowledge exchange and people-to-people connectivity in the healthcare sector. He also noted the growing interest among several healthcare institutions in Tamil Nadu to explore opportunities for establishing healthcare facilities and expanding their presence in Sri Lanka. The discussions highlighted the significant potential for healthcare investment, hospital partnerships and medical tourism between Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu, contributing to stronger bilateral economic and people-to-people ties.
