Mr. Pasan Kavikeshawa, Third
Secretary of Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai participated as a
Special Guest at the “Bond and Ride – India & Sri Lanka,” friendship
cycling event organised by Team Bison, led by Mr. Ganesh Kannan, on 26 August
- The initiative, expressed by Dr. Ganesanathan
Geathiswaran, Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai
aimed at celebrate the enduring bonds of friendship and people-to-people
connections between India and Sri Lanka. The 20-kilometre friendship ride,
flagged off from Besant Nagar Beach, brought together three distinguished
retired Sri Lankan Army officers and passionate long-distance cyclists Major
General Mr. Sumith Balasooriya, Major General Mr. Sumith Premalal and Colonel
Mr. Pradeep Perera along with around 30
Indian cyclists. The cyclists rode
through Santhome, Marina Beach and Anna Salai, concluding at Hotel Geetham,
Mount Road, carrying the Indian and Sri Lankan flags as symbols of friendship,
unity and mutual respect between the two countries. The three Sri Lankan Army
veterans have undertaken a challenging Colombo–Chennai–Colombo cycling journey,
covering approximately 1,400 km, as part of an initiative promoting friendship
between the two countries. During the event, Mr. Pasan Kavikeshawa felicitated
the visiting Sri Lankan Army veteran cyclists and distributed commemorative
mementos and participation certificates to the cyclists. The event also
promoted the messages “Cycle for Health” and “Say No to Drugs”, highlighting
the importance of healthy living and responsible lifestyles. Deputy
