Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy call on Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Hon. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 28 August 2026. During the meeting, discussions focused on further strengthening the longstanding relations between Sri Lanka and the State of Andhra Pradesh, with particular emphasis on tourism, trade and investment, pilgrimage tourism and industrial cooperation. The Deputy High Commissioner highlighted the potential for enhancing trade and investment cooperation, particularly by encouraging greater engagement between business communities and exploring new avenues for economic collaboration. The Hon. Chief Minister invited more Sri Lankan garment and apparel companies, to establish and expand their operations in Andhra Pradesh, highlighting the State’s potential as a destination for investment in the garment and textile sector. The discussions also highlighted opportunities to further strengthen pilgrimage and cultural tourism, contributing to enhanced people-to-people contacts and closer cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Andhra Pradesh.
