Mr. Ruban Hobday, Regional Director- South of The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL), met with Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka for Southern on 17th September 2026. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to further strengthen Sri Lanka–India trade and economic cooperation, with particular emphasis on the plastics industry and related sector. Mr. Hobday expressed PLEXCONCIL’s interest in facilitating the participation of a 30–40 member business delegations at Sri Lanka Expo 2027, scheduled to be held from 14–17 January 2027 and conveyed the Council’s interest in participating in the Expo, including through a PLEXCONCIL stall, with the support of the relevant authorities. Discussions also explored potential collaboration in facilitating business engagements, Buyer-Seller Meets, trade delegations and industry interactions, as well as fostering closer linkages with relevant chambers of commerce and business associations, with a view to promoting greater commercial cooperation and mutually beneficial opportunities between the two countries.
