Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, attended the official ceremony organized by the Government of Tamil Nadu to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2026 at the historic Fort St. George, Chennai. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay, hoisted the National Flag, followed by a ceremonial parade and salute by the tri-services and the police. The ceremony was attended by several Ministers of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Members of the Legislature, members of the diplomatic corps, and other distinguished guests.
